Comparison Between LED And LCD TV

There are so many types of high definition TVs in the marketplace one could really get lost. You have many choices like LCD, Plasma and the new LED TV. What is the difference and which TV is right for you? Today let's check the difference between LCD Vs LED televisions.
The LCD TV or Lquid Crystal Display television is a flat-panel TV which employs a Liquid Crystal Display technology. The LCD TV got 2 layers of glass that are polarized and stuck on each other. One of these layers holds the liquid crystals. These liquid crystals pass, or stop the light, to deliver pictures on the LCD screen when the electric current is passed through it.
In LCD television the light source is a series of CCFL lamps at the rear of the screen. With the lights emitted by the fluorescent lamps, the pictures created by the liquid crystals get visible to you. An example of LCD TV with light emitting diodes backlight is Samsung LN40C630 LCD TV.
The LED Televisions are in reality a specific type of LCD TV. LED TV's also have a flat-screen which utilizes Liquid Crystal Display technology. The only difference is the source of light, which is at the rear side of the TV screen. The LCD Television utilises ccfl lamps, and the LED Television uses Light Emitting Diodes (LED). A good example of LED TV is the LG LED TV series.
Types of LED Televisions:
There are two types of LED TVs according to the system of light source. The first one is called Edge lighting, and the second one is called Full-Array lighting. With the Edge lighting, the series of light emitting diodes are organized on the outside edges of the display screen. But, in Full-Array lighting, there are numerous rows of light emitting diodes behind the entire surface of the screen. The second type of TVs allow more control over brightness level and dimming, since the LEDs can be turned on and off individually.
Advantages of LED TV over LCD TV
So is LED TV better than normal LCD TVs? Actually you should enquire, is LCD TV with LED backlight better than LCD Televisions with CCFL backlight since the difference lies only the source of light. There are few advantages of bringing home an LED TV.
Number 1 the LED Televisions produce slightly crisper motion graphics since Light Emitting Diodes are said to give more balance in color intensity. LED Televisions also use less power than the ccfl lamps.

A new redesigned Nintendo DS has been revealed. What do you think?
January 26, 2006 - After weeks of rumor and speculation, Nintendo today finally revealed its expected redesign of the Nintendo DS handheld system. Called the DS Lite, this new design will be released in Japan on March 2, 2006 and cost 16,800 yen (about 140 bucks US.) The redesign retains all the functionality of the standard DS, but makes things smaller, lighter and brighter.
The modified dual screen handheld has been tweaked into a smaller chassis. The new unit measures up to 133 mm wide by 73.9 mm tall by 21.5 thick. (that's compared to 148.7 x 84.7 x 28.99 mm in the original.) DS Lite weighs 218g, compared to the 275 g of the original.
DS Lite's biggest new technical feature is its updated set of backlit LCD screens. The system is brighter overall, and will give the user the ability to select from four different levels of brightness for viewing and/or battery consumption.
