Home Office Ideas on a Shoestring
More and more professionals these days are choosing to work from home. Youll need some sort of home office space if you either work from home or end up taking a lot of your work home with you. You dont necessarily need to spend a lot of money in order to set up an office in your home. There are many options available in building a budget-friendly home office that will fit your needs, whether you work from home or just want an office space for your family.
Sectioning a Portion of a Room for Office Space
Setting up a home office doesnt necessarily mean you need to designate a completely separate room. Certainly having your office in its own room is nice, but it isnt at all necessary. Unless your business needs a lot of storage space, a home office can be set up in a closet or in a corner of another room, such as the dining room or kitchen. Sometimes keeping your office in a corner or a closet works better for work-at-home parents who want to keep an eye on kids or monitor their teens computer time.
Converting a Closet into a Home Office
You can easily turn a closet into a home office by first taking the doors off the hinges and removing the closet bar. Next, choose a simplewooden desk with a comfortable chair that fits the space. If you want to, you can include shelving and any organizational or storage options you might need on the back walls of the closet. If you dont always want your office to be in view, simply hang a long curtain over the front of the closet. If youre looking for an inexpensive office solution that requires very little space, then this is definitely the way to go.
Adding Shelving and a Desk to Any Room.
A home office can be as simple as a built-inwooden bookcase or storage area, or perhaps a computer armoire. Whether its the dining room, the kitchen, or the bedroom, this type of inexpensive home office can be added to just about any room.
Even if you do have a separate room for your home office, your space can still be budget-friendly. There are many simple things you can do that will make a big difference, such as painting the room your favorite color or a mellow color like light green or blue.
This space can be easily decorated by simply adding photographs in frames to the wall. The photos might be of your family, or you could display some nature scenes that you took. Another option is to add some shelves or shadow boxes to the walls for storage, as they can double as decorative items as well.
Some of the books that you use for your business can also be decorative, especially if they are nice-looking. You might be able to find decorative boxes and trinkets that can be filled with office supplies, so that they are functional as well as stylish.
For those of you with new businesses and limited resources, just start by building your home office up slowly. For starters, you really only need a desk and a chair. You can wait till you find deals or sales on decorative and storage items to use for the room. No matter which way you proceed, know that theres no need to go into debt creating a home office before your business is even profitable.
Should I get a new mac?
I have an old mac (1.83 GHz core duo) and it's about 3 years old now.
I'm considering getting the new aluminum body macbooks, because my laptop now is getting pretty old. The display hinge is really loose, and the graphics card pretty much sucks. (I don't play games often, but when I do all it does is lag lag lag) It sometimes freezes randomly (and I have to restart, which annoys the crap out of me), but not that often.
Other than those problems, it's still running pretty fast. (I'm using leopard.) Do you think it's worth it to upgrade? (plus, i'm thinking about upgrading so i can play the new sims that comes out tomorrow!
)
well it sound like you have out grown you mac so i would get a better one that fills my needs and that wont bug the hell out of me which it sound like that is what your mac is doing to you. if you can afford it then go for it.
